Lebanese singer Alissa denied circulating rumors that she had
bought the World Music Award that she received in the United States of
America for a price of US 150 dollars.
Alissa stressed that the jealously of sick individuals are behind such
lies, noting that the award is given for highest record sales, which her
latest album achieved. She added that the award has nothing to do with
the singer’s personality or looks.
Alissa surprised her fans when she appeared at the 2005 World Music
Awards in Hollywood. Alissa is the first Arab artist to receive the
prestigious Music Award for the Middle East and North African region.

The singer was
presented the award for having the highest record sales for her album
“Ahla Dunia” (The Perfect World). American singer Paula Abdoul presented
Alissa her award.
A large number of prominent international singers like Beyonce, Maria
Carey, John Bon Jovi, and others were present at the event that took
place at the Kodak Plus Hall on August 31.
Alissa stated that she was overjoyed and honored to receive such an
award. She considers the award an achievement for her and all Arab
singers, proving they have what it takes to compete with the West.
Upon her return from America the singer’s production company ‘Rotana’
held a special ceremony to celebrate her achievement and success of the
album, which marked their first cooperation.
At a press conference Lebanese journalist Jumana Abu Obeid congratulated
the singer for winning the award and thanked her for the speech she gave
upon receiving it. Alissa had dedicated her award to her country
Lebanon, her fans, and Rotana.
Alissa stressed that her participation in the event is a major milestone
in her career, and her ticket to international stardom.
