Lebanese singer Alissa has headed off to the Maldives Islands after
receiving a special invitation from the English magazine Okay. The
singer will spend a few days in the Maldives accompanied throughout her
trip by the crew of the magazine.
The magazine, which only recently launched its Arabic version, will
publish different articles about Alissa’s experience in its upcoming
editions.
On a different note, recently and inside one of the biggest and most
modern commercial center in Cairo, Alissa was present for the grand
opening of the Cairo office for Virgin MegaStore, which specializes in
Audio and Visual matters for the music industry.

A press conference was
held for the big event in the presence of known Egyptian journalist Emad
El Din Adeeb, who is a stakeholder in the company.
Alissa made her entrance on a motorcycle singing her famous hit “Arab
Li” (Come Closer) and announced the opening of the Cairo branch.
Large crowds of journalists, fans and prominent figures from the
entertainment world attended the event. Singers like Shireen Abdul
Wahab, Ehab Tawfiq, Tamer Husni and others, especially ones that belong
to the music channel Melody, which was the only station that had the
right to broadcast the event.
Once more, photographs of Alissa are splashed across Western magazines,
after winning the ‘2005 World Music Award’ for highest record sales in
the Middle East and Northern Africa. Alissa is the first Arab to receive
the prestigious award.
However, this time it was not Alissa’s accomplishments as a singer that
drew the attention of American magazine ‘US,’ instead it was to compare
the dress she wore to the awards ceremony to the same one worn by
American pop star Jennifer Lopez at an event in New York.
The magazine held a poll to see who people thought looked better in the
dress - Alissa or Jennifer. The shocking results – the American public
thought Alissa looked much better in the dress then Jennifer by 67% of
the votes.
